Gold Fields Limited is a significant unhedged global producer of gold with an annual production of approximately 2.0 million gold equivalent ounces from eight operating mines in Australia, Ghana, Peru and South Africa.
The aim of the project is to provide faster, secured and state-of-art VHF DMR trunking radio communications to the Cerro Corona open pit mining, copper-gold plant, the main roads along the operation and the city of Cajamarca, Perú. This project is the first multisite DMR trunking deployment in Perú and it is an important milestone in the modernization of the radio communication in the mining industry in Perú.
A comprehensive solution
The Hytera solution, which includes a service package, provided by Grupo Electrodata, is based on a geographically redundant Control Node, five DMR Trunking sites, a Voice Recording System, an advanced client-server Dispatch Console System with integrated GPS/AVL. An interoperability radio-gateway secures a smooth migration from the existing analog system to the new DMR Trunking. Overall there are also 190 DMR Handheld terminals PD785G and 23 DMR high power mobile radios MD785G in use.
“With Hytera´s DMR Trunking technology in VHF and UHF frequency band, we are able to offer to the customers a high-level ETSI standardized cost effective mission critical communication system to migrate its legacy radio communication system if we compare with the extremely expensive P25 technology.” said Luis Perez, Head of Hytera Peru.
Installation of the new system is expected to begin in the first quarter of this year, with staged handovers of coverage areas throughout the second quarter of 2017.
