IWCE will be recognizing young professionals under 35 who are growing and excelling in the communications technology field. These individuals are executing some of our industry's most innovative ideas, showing creativity and initiative. Congratulations to our award winners below:
Brandon Abley | Consultant, Televate
Brandon is a tireless and articulate advocate for public safety. A leading consultant in the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband initiative for several states he also developed the first public safety video game where players can experience the power of data within a rescue setting. In 2013, he became the youngest Statewide Interoperability Coordinator in the country, in Minnesota.
Edgardo Barreto | EOC Business Specialist, CODECOM
Edgardo is a vital asset to the implementation and maintenance of Puerto Rico Department of Health and Puerto Rico Fire Department's vital collaborative communications systems. His history of being a first responder helping to alleviate the workload of emergency workers during events has been of great success and is recognized by members of the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Community in Puerto Rico.
Gabe Brown | Software Engineer, Avtec, Inc.
Gabe has made a true impact since joining Avtec Inc. He is able to take a problem or customer need, understand the requirements and architect a solution and design that can be developed into exactly what is needed to fulfill the customer need in a short period of time. He drives to deliver a fully functional feature that not only meets the product requirements, but is also designed to be easily maintained.
Mark Dabrowski | Director of R&D, Teldio
As a co-founder of Teldio, Mark has been a driving force behind the growth and diversification of the company. Mark was the catalyst and chief architect behind Teldio's entry into the Professional Mobile Radio space, one of the leading fully featured digital telephone interconnect solutions on the market today.
Vikas Dhummi | Senior Mechanical Engineer, Marvair, division of Airxcel, Inc.
Vikas is focused on building better heating and cooling products with higher energy efficiency for towers and other commmunications equipment. In one of the his projects at Marvair, Vikas worked closely with the prototype lab to re-engineer the company's energy-saving economizer system to provide higher airflows and eliminate the ingestion of exhaust air into the building or structure. He is committed to creating higher quality, more efficient products.
Bob Drayer | Lead Software Developer, Avtec, Inc.
Bob has a true passion for working with radios and communications technology and displays an exceptional mastery of many communication protocols. He has quickly established himself at Avtec as a key engineer leading their Protocol Drivers development team, interfacing daily with many departments including Product Management, Customer Support, Research, and Partner Management. Bob also fostered the architecting and development of a robust base-class on which to build Avtec protocol drivers.
Amanda Dundas | Consultant/Project Co-ordinator, DundasTech Ltd
Amanda has been involved with many high profile projects where she supported the deployment and operations of a radio solution for several Olympic and Paralympics sporting and non-sporting venues, the biggest being the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Nicholas (Nick) Falgiatore | Technology Specialist, Mission Critical Partners
With a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to assume responsibilities, Nick is a valued resource to clients for his product knowledge, industry knowledge and FCC regulatory experience. His ability to effectively communicate this knowledge provides value to the client, and allows the client to be well informed on their available options and choices.
Nathan Hooks | Senior Customer Support Engineer, Avtec Inc
Nathan has climbed the ladder at Avtec Inc. starting as a System Integration Engineer and now serving as a Senior Customer Support Engineer supporting Scout dispatch communications systems for mission critical clients throughout North America. His skill at providing valuable insights and approaching customer support matters with a focus on client advocacy has made him a trusted advisor to Avtec's reseller channel, direct sales team, and global customer base.
Ayrielle LeGrande | Vice President of Public Safety Solutions, The Digital Decision
Ayrielle has been a driving force on the PA-FirstNet team, quantifying county and state data, coaching county government representatives to complete detailed data surveys, and expertly presenting the FirstNet message at Regional Task Force meetings throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In large part due to Ayrielle's efforts, FirstNet commented that Pennsylvania's data collection process and reporting was the most comprehensive in the country.
Jason Matthews | Emergency Management Bureau Sergeant , Lake County Sheriff’s Office
Jason started his career as a first responder and now has extensive technical experience in LMR and broadband systems. As an advocate for public safety communications issues, he manages the local and regional 700/800 MHz trunked radio network as well as all of the technology in the agency's PSAP. This combination of active first responder experience and technology provides him with insights into the needs of public safety agencies at the local, regional, statewide and nationwide level.
Michael Mayes | IT Manager, Network Engineer, Advantage Communications
Michael is an Advantage Communications certified tower climber. He routinely takes on the challenges of Advantage Communications Wireless Network performance and maintenance issues. His knowledge of routers and networking has enabled him to engineer the upgrades and improvements to Advantage Communications' Wi-Fi WISP network while expanding it to four additional tower sites and increasing customer speeds.
Jorge Perdomo | Founder, goTenna
Jorge is the inventor of the goTenna suite of tactical radio products. With no prior radio systems experience the product has already been adopted by US Special Forces as a part of the battle against ISIS in Mosul, as well as Colorado's wildland fires.
Luis Perez | Head of Hytera Perú and Key Account Manager LATAM, Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH
With international experience that spans across the North America, Latin America, EU and CIS, Luis Perez has extensive knowledge in technical design, configuration and implementation of large scale Land-TETRA/DMR turnkey user-oriented solutions. He is in charge of initiating, developing and executing start-up operations for Hytera Peru and LATAM region and has been recognized for his work as project leader responsible for designing and implementing the Mission Critical Communication C4 System for the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Roger Wespe | National Public Safety Strategy and Technology Manager, Sonim Technologies
Roger has made immeasurable contributions to the public safety communications community including serving as an early and vocal champion for FirstNet, speaking at numerous public safety-specific events throughout the country. In his capacity as the National Public Safety Strategy & Technology Manager, he has helped create the master outreach plan for Sonim Technologies, and is responsible for messaging and delivering educational content to federal, state and local public safety agencies.
